Therapathic Movement For Everybody

About Marci Rubin

I was raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where movement was a natural part of daily life. Growing up, I studied ballet and jazz dance, ran track, and spent much of my time hiking and camping with my family. These early experiences instilled in me a deep appreciation for both structured movement and the freedom of moving through the natural world.

I later moved to New York City to pursue my education of alignment-based vinyasa and Iyengar yoga and began building a full-time career as an alignment-based yoga instructor. Over time, my own experience with chronic sacroiliac pain led me to explore other movement modalities that could offer more support and stability. This journey ultimately brought me to Pilates through the Kane School, where I found a powerful system for developing strength, control, and resilience in the body.

Since 2014, I have been teaching Pilates full time, with a focus on helping clients build sustainable, intelligent movement patterns. My work emphasizes Pilates for hypermobility, spinal conditions, prenatal and postnatal clients, and movement repatterning. I am especially passionate about helping clients create stability where there is instability, and strength where there is weakness—so they can move with greater ease and confidence in their everyday lives.

I have had the privilege of studying with some incredible teachers, including Madeline Black, Lesley Powell, Kelly Kane, and Jean-Claude West, all of whom have deeply informed my approach to movement and teaching.

Currently, I am expanding my work into strength training, with the goal of completing my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification this year. I am excited to continue bridging Pilates with strength training to support clients in building strong, resilient, and well-balanced bodies.
